About MilitaryDex
MilitaryDex is a public-access encyclopedia and database of global military forces. Our mission is to provide transparent, accurate, and up-to-date information on the armed forces of 145 nations — covering everything from active personnel and defense budgets to equipment inventories, naval assets, and air power. We believe that open access to military data promotes informed public debate and international understanding.
All data on MilitaryDex is compiled from publicly available sources, including official reports and publications from the U.S. Department of Defense, public records from government ministries of defense worldwide, and leading open-source defense research organizations. Our team reviews and updates figures regularly to reflect the latest verified information. Where data may differ between sources, we present the most widely cited figure and note any significant discrepancy.
MilitaryDex is an independent reference project and is not affiliated with any government, military organization, or defense contractor. Our goal is to serve researchers, journalists, students, and curious members of the public who want reliable, easy-to-navigate military data. If you spot an error or have suggestions for improvement, we welcome your feedback.
